Nne Furo Kurubo Model School: Don’t Send Indians Away, Group Tells Wike
The Foundation for
Educational Development and Empowerment, a socio-cultural organisation in Rivers State, has called on Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike not to send the Indians away from the running and management of the Ambassador Nne Furo Kurubo Model Secondary School, Ebubu.
The foundation which said this at a press briefing at the weekend in Port Harcourt said that the Indians are competent managers who kept the school running even when subvention were not given by the government.
National President of the group, Mr Dan Edit also said that the activities of the school especially in the area of Information Communication Technology (ICT) have been felt especially in the private school sector of the state.
He said that sending the Indians away will lead to mismanagement of the school, thereby defeating the very essence for which the school was founded.
The foundation president described the Ambassador Nne Furo Kurobo Model Secondary School as a model that should serve as a referral centre for both public and private secondary schools in the state.
While stressing that the group is deeply concerned over the state of the school, he stressed the need for the government to negotiate with the Indians with a view to working out modalities on how the school will be managed, adding that the negotiation should also cover the ones at Saakpenwa, Etche and other areas.
They commended the Governor Nuesom Wike for his educational policies in the state and urged for it to be sustained.
