RSG Set To Build Ecumenical Centre
The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has stated that his administration will build an ecumenical centre to unite all Christian denominations in the state.
The governor also commended Christians in the state for praying and supporting his administration all through the period of voting and litigation.
Wike spoke at the Government House, Port Harcourt, when he granted audience to the new Chairman of Rivers State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Primate Isaac Anyanasikike and the new Methodist Archbishop of Port Harcourt, Most Reverend Sunday Agwu.
The governor further approved March 9, 2016, as a day of prayer for the state to be organised by CAN, and promised that the state will hold a rededication service after the rerun elections to commit the state to God.
He said: “Our pledge to build an Ecumenical Centre for Christians will be actualised. This promise is meant to unite Christians of all denominations”, he said.
The governor also approved the request of the Methodist Church of Nigeria to hold a special night of songs with its special choir on Wike’s victory at the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Rivers State Chairman of CAN, Primate Isaac Anyanasikike, had assured the governor of support of Christians in the state, because, according to him, the governor has lived up the expectation of the people.
The Archbishop of Methodist Church in Port Harcourt, Most Reverend Sunday Agwu, praised the governor for his superlative performance since assuming office.
