The leadership of Nige
ria Labour Congress (NLC) has set up committee to coordinate the proposed industrial action against the Imo State Government over the sack of 3,000 workers in the state.
In a statement last Wednesday by the congress president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said the committee is made up of Joe Ajaero, Secretary General  National Union of Electricity Employees, (NUEE), Achese Igwe National President, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Comrade Ameachi Asugwum, President Construction Union, General Secretary Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, Peter Adeyemi, National Secretary, National Union of Tettile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), Comrade Issa Aremu and the Congress National President Ayuba Wabba.
Wabba said the committee is to ensure that the 3000 sacked workers receive their salary and backlog of salary arrears duly paid the workers by the Imo State Government.
He said Labour Leaders have agreed that the action should go beyond mere strike by the Imo State public workers, but that the strike action should encompass stoppage of fuel supplies to the state and power should be cut off in the state until the government fulfilled labours demands.
The union enjoined people of Imo State to prevail on Governor Rochas Okorocha to rescind his anti-workers policy as the organised labour is determined to protect the workers against the unfriendly labour government in the state.
