Nigerian Stars Aim For Europa League Spotlight
Several Nigeria stars will be battling for places in the next round of the UEFA Europa League tomorrow.
They include Sparta Prague striker Kehinde Fatai, Abduljaleel Ajagun of Panathinaikos(Greece), Chukwuma Akabueze of Odd Ballklubb (Norway) and Paul Onuachu of Danish club Midtjylland.
Fatai scored in both legs of the Champions League third round qualification when they crashed out to an Ahmed Musa-inspired CSKA Moscow.
The former Nigeria youth international told AfricanFootball.com he will do everything to help his team go past Thun FC from Switzerland.
“I am not new to playing at this stage, we have a good team who can do well, so we are ready to take the advantage of Europa league after we dropped out of the Champions League,” said the striker.
“We are not going to take our opponents lightly. I pray God crown our efforts to progress after the two legs.”
Former Nigeria U20 captain Abduljaleel Ajagun has told Tidesports South that Azerbaijani side Galaba will not stop his Panathinaikos from progressing.
“I know it won’t be easy, but my target is to help my team beat them in both legs and move forward in the competition,” Ajagun said.
Chukwuma Akabueze has been in superb form for his Norwegian team Odd Ballklubb and ‘Bentley’ will lead them out in their quest to see off top German outfit Borussia Dortmund.
Nigeria U23 forward Paul Onauchu will feature for Danish champions Midtjylland when they travel to face Southampton in a very daunting fixture.
