Dickson Lauds Christian Pilgrims, Lottery Initiative
Governor of Bayelsa State,
Hon Seriake Dickson has pledged the government’s support for the new lottery initiative of the Nigerian Christians Pilgrim Welfare Commission, expected to take off in 2016.
Governor Dickson, who stated this, while exchanging views with members of the Nigerian Christians Pilgrim Welfare Commission, who called on him in Yenagoa, assured them of the state government’s support and collaboration.
While commending the board for doing a very good job, in spite of the lean resources at its disposal, he called for a greater collaboration and partnership between the board and stakeholders for it to succeed in the task of rejuvenating the spiritual growth of the people.
In his words: “the government will support and sponsor Bayelsans to the Holy land and the lottery package will be given adequate support as my government will be the first to start the initiative.”
“The body of Christ in the state just yesterday after an interactive meeting with me, passed a vote of confidence on me to continue. This will spur me to do more for the state and strengthen the collaboration between my government and the church.”
Earlier, in his remarks, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christians Pilgrimage Welfare Commission, NCPC, Rev John Kennedy Opara, explained that the commission is on a sensitisation tour for the 2016 pilgrimage.
According to Kennedy Opara, the commission has introduced a lottery package for the 2016 pilgrimage that will enable those going to the holy land to get a free ticket through a lucky deep.
Other initiative of the board include; skills acquisition and training in the areas of fishing, snailing farming and the introduction of Easter youth, family and men pilgrimages to Israel and Greece to boost spiritual and moral rejuvenation among Christians in the country.
