NURTW Warns Drivers Against Alcohol
The Deputy Chairman
of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Mile III Port Harcourt, Hon. Glory Nnukam has urged drivers to abstain from alcohol, and ensure they sleep well at night to avoid accidents on the roads.
Speaking recently in an interview with The Tide Correspondent in Port Harcourt, Hon. Nnukam stated that the drivers need to adopt the right attitude to work stressing that “without the passengers the vehicles have no meaning.”
The deputy chairman, maintained that a sanitation committee had been put in place to maintain and checkmate careless dumping of refuse in the environment, adding that “the committee is trying their best because they are seriously monitored, as failure to discharge their duties attract sanctions.”
He stressed that the security of the passengers and traders in the environment was his primary responsibility which he must follow to the letter to avoid losing of property, adding that since he became the deputy chairman there had been order and discipline in and outside the area.
He also called on contractors to use high quality materials for road constructions and commended Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the construction of roads in the state.
The chairman appealed for the maintenance of roads saying all hands must be on deck to ensure the durability of the roads.
