Maigari Returns, Minister Seeks To Reconcile NFF
The impeached presi
dent of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari has resumed work at the office of the Federation on Monday.
The reinstatement of Maigari followed a directive from the Sports Minister and Chairman of National Sports Commission, Tammy Danagogo which is coming barely 24 hours after the World Football governing body, FIFA ordered that the impeached NFF President should be reinstated.
Disclosing this to Sports journalists in Abuja, the Sports Minister also said that the visit of Aminu Maigari to Abuja National Stadium, office was in furtherance of the ministry’s resolve to ensure that the crisis bedevilling Nigeria sports is over by bringing all stakeholders together to have free, fair and peaceful NFF.
He has come to pay a courtesy visit on me. What all well meaning stakeholders have been trying to do all this while is to ensure that all problems we are talking about are resolved.
You must be aware that I met with other groups a couple of days ago and they have resolved that they are going to work together peacefully and they are going to make sure that the electoral process goes on with more people given the opportunity to have forms to contest to ensure that the best materials emerge as the next leaders of our Football Federation.
The Minister also approved that Maigari should contest for the post of NFF President if he so wishes but was silent on the resignation of Maigari as was widely reported.
As a man, he has the right to run or not to. It is his decision to make, he also has right to resign or not to. It is not the Minister that would decide for him.
