Boxer Eyes C’wealth Games
A Lagos-based boxer,
Rilwan Oladosu, has said he would work harder while in camp, to ensure selection at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The Games is to hold in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 3
Oladosu told newsmen in Lagos that Lagos State boxing athletes had been scheduled to camp in Abuja for trials, preparatory to the Games. “We have started an early camping which I think is good for us because it will enable us to prepare well before leaving for the championship. “The athletes are going to the Games not to make up the number but to win medals for the country in the boxing event.”
According to him, Joseph Oto and Rilwan Oladosu are participating in the 60kg light weight category, while Olaide Fijabi will compete in the 64kg category.
Christian Abua will vie in the 59kg welterweight category, while Segun Ibrahim will slug it out it out in the 89kg light heavy weight category.
Similarly, Taiwo Agbaje will be contesting in the bantam weight category while Francis Gabriel will be competing in the 91kg heavy weight category.
