Handball Team Begins Camping For International Tourney
No fewer than 20
male players and three officials have been invited by the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) for camping, ahead of the Intercontinental Handball Trophy, slated for Mexico.
Head Coach of the team, Fidelis Obi, told newsmen in Lagos that training would commence immediately at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
The HFN junior male team would be flying the country’s flag at the netball competition organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF), scheduled to hold from November 25 to 30.
He expressed delight over the commencement of the camping, adding that: “I am very happy that at last, we are going to begin camping in Lagos“.
According to him, the players have been undergoing routine training, as a buildup to the proper camping, which he said, will help the players to be more committed.
“We have been eager to be in camp because the competition we are going for, is highly demanding and we must be adequately prepared to ensure that we can excel.
“Now that we are going into closed camping, players will be more focused and there will not be room for distraction, so we, the technical officials will also be dedicated, “ he said.
The national junior team clinched the ticket to the intercontinental event after its victorious outing at the continental competition held in Djibouti in March.
