Prices Of Rams Drop After Muslim Festival
Prices of various sizes of rams have witnessed a sharp drop at the Apo rams market in Garki, Thursday as the muslim Eid-el kabir festival has come to an end.
A visit to the market by newsmen revealed that only a handful of buyers and a lot of unsold rams were at the market.
It was observed that rams which were selling for between N25,000 and N50,000 before the Eid-el kabir, depending on their sizes, now goes for between N19,000 and N30,000 on Thursday.
A cross-section of the dealers told journalists however that inspite of the drop in prices, there was still low patronage.
One of them, Mr. Waliu Ibrahim said he decided to reduce the price of his rams as there were no buyers.
“What I think is responsible for this patronage is money-people are saying there is no money, so we have no option than to sell the rams at lower prices. This is to enable us make some sales. As you can see, few people are coming to buy”, he said.
Another dealer, Mr. Mohammed Suleiman, also said the reduction in prices had enabled him to sell only some rams.
He said “I have been able to sell only eight today as a result of the reduction in price, unlike on Tuesday when the price was still high and I sold only two.”
