Dickson Eulogises Diete-Spiff At 71
The Amayanabo of Twon-Brass in Bayelsa State and the First Military Governor of old Rivers State, King Alfred Papapriye Diete-Spiff has clocked 71.
Felicitating with the traditional ruler, the Governor of Bayelsa State. Honourable Seriake Dickson described King Diete Spiff as a role-model, pace-setter and a patriotic leader, who demonstrated enormous courage and vision as pioneer Military Governor of old Rivers State to translate his dreams for the new state at the time, to reality.
He also commended his humble disposition, stressing that as a governor at the age of 25 in 1967, when old Rivers State was created, King Diete-Spiff never allowed his exalted position to becloud his good intentions for his people, but listened to wise counsel and advice in administering the young state to enviable heights.
Governor Dickson in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, recalled how the sound and people oriented programmes and policies of his administration laid the foundation for what is today Rivers and Bayelsa States as well as turned Port Harcourt to one of the best State capitals and Rivers State the cynosure of all eyes in all ramifications at the time.
“Even at the age of 71, you have not relented in rendering quality service to our people. You have regularly answered the clarion call to contribute and give wise counsel to successive leaderships of our dear State from creation in 1996 to date and to our Nation. Many years after you served our people as governor of old Rivers State, you are still revered and appreciated, because you were truly exceptional in many ways”, he said.
“As you celebrate 3 scores and eleven, on behalf of a grateful State and people, I pray God Almighty to continue to grant you sound health and mind to continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of our State,” the governor added.
