IPMAN Appeals For Kerosene Supply To Calabar Depot
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called for the supply of kerosene to Calabar depot comprising Cross River, Akwa Ibom and some parts of North East.
The Calabar Depot Chairman, Mr Micheal Udofia said this in an interactive session with newsmen in Calabar.
Udofia said that for the past 11 years, the depot had not received any supply of kerosene, adding that this had caused untold hardship to the people.
“We have not had supply of kerosene for 11 years now. We therefore appeal to the management of PPMC to send kerosene to Calabar depot.
“This call has become urgent because, there is a strong law on felling of woods for domestic fuel in this state. So, the people are forced to buy the product at exorbitant prices, ‘’ he said.
He said that most households in the catchment areas were now forced to buy the product at exorbitant prices from dispensing centres that got the product from private depots.
He commended the Managing Director of Pipeline Products and Marketing Company (PPMC), Mr Momoh Haruna for ensuring constant supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) to the depot.
Udofia also said that PPMC had replaced the analogue dispensing meters in the depot with digital, adding that presently, there were 10 new dispensing machines for products in the depot.
“All these have added to the efficiency with which the depot is giving out products,” he said.
According to him, the improved supplies in PMS and AGO have largely reduced the incidents of bunkering in the area.
He said that consumers of AGO in the axis could attest to the quality of diesel that was in the market presently.
The IPMAN chairman also said that the PPMC had awarded contracts for the complete renovation of the six storage tank farms in the depot.
“This will further boost the efficacy with which products are dispensed at the depot, ‘’ Udofia said.
