RSEPA To Partner FG On Environmental Laws
The Rivers State Environmental Protection Agency has pledged to liaise with both federal and other agencies to produce a sustainable environmental laws for the state. The Sole Administrator of the agency, Chief Nemi Adoki who stated this during a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Environment, Dr Nyema Weli, in his office in Port Harcourt said that the agency was desirous of making environmental laws that would stand the test of time.
He also said that policies and regulations that would guide the working of the agency would be put in place and solicited the assistance of the commissioner towards ensuring the success of the agency.
Responding, the state Commissioner for Environment, Dr Nyema Weli, said that the government was committed to improving the quality of lives of the people.
Dr Weli said that all hands should be on deck to address the environmental problem in the state.
The commissioner expressed confidence in the ability of the Sole Administrator to perform, adding that he should put in place framework that would stand the test of time.
In another development, the state Commissioner for Environment, Dr Nyema Weli, has solicited support of corporate bodies to check the level of environmental degradation in the state.
Addressing a meeting of representatives of corporate organisations in the state in his office, Dr Weli said that the meeting had become necessary in view of the forthcoming World Environmental Day in the state.
