Delta Assembly Amends 2012 Appropriation Law
The Delta House of Assembly, has amended the 2012 Appropriation Law of the state with the transfer of N50 billion to address some urgent needs in the state.
Announcing the amendment on the floor of the Assembly, Wednesday , the Speaker, Mr Victor Ochei said that the N50 billion was transferred from the N437.2 billion budgeted for 2012.to address issues of economic, social, environmental and general administration of the state.
The amendment of the law followed the report presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Daniel Mayuku.
Presenting the report Mayuku assured that the amendment of the appropriation law would not affect the original amount appropriated for 2012.
He said that the amendment would enable the state to re-order funds from areas where they were not urgently needed to other areas of urgent need.
Mayuku explained that the amendment would help to enhance the programmes and policies of the state government.
The House also adopted a report on a Bill to establish the Delta State Engineering Projects Monitoring and Central Board presented by Chairman, House Committee on Works.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee, Mr Oboro Preyor said that the bill, when passed into law, would help to domesticate the Engineering Regulation Monitoring Act of National Assembly in the state.
Preyor added that it would enhance effective monitoring and execution of projects.
