Odegbami Lauds Glo Academy Initiative
A former Green Eagles Captain, Segun Odegbami, has commended
telecommunications giant, Globacom, for its football academy, which he said,
would transform the lives of the youth.
Globacom last week in Lagos unveiled its Glo Soccer Academy,
a TV reality Show, tagged “Dream Team” in Lagos.
Odegbami told newsmen in Lagos that the initiative was one
of the few credible ones where youths would be exposed to football
professionally.
The former player said the academy would infuse social
element in their selection and training, which would involve public
participation.
“The more credible the process of identifying and selecting
these players, then the more tribute the appreciation we must pay to such a
project, this one is slightly different.
“The academy is different in so many ways, we will select
extraordinary talents and once they are selected, they are moved into a camp
which they call academy and they will be trained technically.
“We are injecting social element into the television show
that will involve public participation.
“The home audience have a say in the show and the best of
the players to be selected will go to Manchester United for exposure,” he said.
The Glo Soccer Academy is to discover and train talents in
Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic and other key locations in West Africa.
