RSG To Acquire More Fire-Fighting Vehicles
The Rivers State Government will acquire additional fire-fighting vehicles and water tankers to enhance fire fighting in the state.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
Hon. Emeka Nwogu, the state’s commissioner for Special Duties, made the announcement while addressing Heads of Departments in the ministry.
Worgu said that officers and men of the fire service would be trained and re-trained to re-position the ministry in line with modern fire fighting.
He said the ministry would soon commence fire safety campaign across the state, especially in markets and companies.
The commissioner advised staff of the ministry to double their efforts in the discharge of their duties, warning against indiscipline and poor attitude to work.
He said that the ministry would not tolerate poor work attitude and would sanction any worker who exhibited indiscipline, assuring that hazard allowance to firemen would be increased.
Director of the Fire Service, Mr Oshosgharhe Bawa, assured the Commissioner of the workers’ cooperation.
