‘PH Street Football, For Peace’
The Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Fred Igwe has reiterated that the Port Harcourt Township (Old)/Borokiri Street Football tournament is being organised by the State to foster peace, brotherhood, healthy competition and love amongst participants.
Hon Igwe said that the tournament which is a direct idea of the State’s Executive Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi is being followed through because the governor wants to also directly affect the lives of participants positively.
He said that the prize package was placed by the governor to ensure that which ever club that wins goes home smiling big.
“You would agree with me that as medalists at the 17th National Sports festival were overwhelmed and their lives changed with the rewards from the governor, the clubs that win in this tournament, would also go home smiling.”
He said that the Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Seasoned coach, Daboere Dokubo would furnish the public with the necessary details to begin the competition.
The prizes for the tournament are: first prize N10 million, second prize N5 million, and third prize N3 million.
The competition according to the Commissioner would be organised at other parts of the city.
