‘Govt Press’ll Sustain Gazette Production’
Rivers State Government Printing Press has taken deliberate and pragmatic steps to sustain the production of gazettes in the Printing Press.
This was disclosed by the Director, Government Printing Press, Pastor Augustine Nwikinaka at the searing-in of five Executive members of National Union of Printing, Publishing and paper products Workers (NUPPPPROW) Rivers State Chapter, Port Harcourt.
Pastor Nwikinaka observed that this is the first time the union has organised a successful election, adding that the newly elected members should improve on their performance in order to exceed the record of their predecessors.
He congratulated the workers of the printing press for conducting themselves properly and thanked the team of national officers for an excellent, peaceful and credible election.
Also speaking, the Vice President/Zonal Chairman South-South, Comrade John Ushie solicited the co-operation of members to ensure effective performance of their duties.
Comrade Ushie who disclosed that the State elected members will serve for three years, commended the Director government printing Press and described him as a good mixer.
The State Chairman of the Union Comrade Lawrence Owhonda in his remarks said the essence of the programme was to introduce the elected officers to the workers.
Those elected were: Comrade Kariba Harry, Vice Chairman Comrade Saturday Osiga, Secretary, Comrade London Nwankwo, Assistant Secretary, Comrade Felicia Elendu, Treasurer and Comrade Bernard Nwikpo, unit Chairman.
Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to the national officers of the union.
