Commissioner Lauds Donor Partners On Projects Execution
The Cross River Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr Peter Ojie, has commended the International Donor Partners in the state for initiating projects that uplift the wellbeing of the people.
Ojie stated this in Calabar at a meeting with the Special Adviser to the Governor on International Donor Support, Mr Roy Ndoma-Egba, who briefed him on his activities.
He said that the briefing was very comprehensive and rewarding, and commended the special adviser for the presentation.
“This meeting is very rewarding because most of the projects are very crucial to the uplift of the socio-economic wellbeing of the rural communities of the state.”
Earlier, Ndoma-Egba said that all the 18 Local Government Areas of the state had benefited from various projects aimed at achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
He said that some of the latest programmes in the state included the Twin Track-Conditional Grant Schemes located in Boki, Odukpani and Yallah Local Government Areas.
Others were the International Food and Agricultural Development (IFAD) operating in nine local government areas; the MPP9 currently operating in Etung Local Government Area and the World Bank support on Nutrition.
According to Ndoma-Egba , other projects under the 10 EDF will soon take-off as soon as relevant documents are signed.
He also said that the state and local government counterpart funds had been paid for some of the projects while approval has been given for others.
