All Stars FC Ends February Clash 1 – 1
The Premier All Stars FC,
Port Harcourt on Wednesday treated football fans to exquisite display of skills, spirit of competition at the Sharks FC Stadium, Port Harcourt.
It was during the club’s monthly end of the month matches, for February between its two sides, Delta Stars and Niger Stars, which ended 1 -1.
Despite the fiery exchange of fireworks, and the promise by Niger Stars, who lost the January encounter 3 – 0, to avenge the year’s opening loss, honours were shared at the end of hostilities.
Indeed, the Niger Stars had shot into the lead moments after resumption of the second half, when Delta Stars’ keeper, Moses Effiong (MON) was beaten by a header off a free kick.
They managed to hold on to their lead despite going one man down as a result of the expulsion of one of their players due to indiscipline.
But it was Delta Stars that would have carried the day late on, after they drew level and lost a penalty opportunity.
Chairman of the club, Aribitonye Okiri while speaking to Tidesports said that the monthly matches is a way of bringing members together, maintaining fitness and sharpening the competitive spirit among them. He said that the club, as the flagship of all Stars clubs in the state would continue to lead the way and play effective role towards football and other sports development in Rivers State and beyond.
