Amiesimaka Swimming Pool Excites MOC Chairman
The Chairman of Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the 9th Junior African Swimmining Championship, Fashina Thomas, has lauded Rivers State government for building a world class standard swimming pool at Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex.
Thomas made the commendation, while fielding questions from sports Journalists yesterday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, in the state.
According to him, the state has saved the country for accepting to host the competition, saying that the 17th National Sports Festival (NSF) hosted by the state is a blessing.
“Governor Chibuike Amaechi saved the country from the embarrassment that Nigeria cannot host the Junior African Swimming Champion due to lack of standard swimming pools.” Thomas said.
The MOC Chairman explained that the swimming pool section of the Abuja national stadium had some technical problems that disqualified the competition to be held there.
“Honestly, I was baffled and excited when I saw the facilities at the swimming pools of Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, they are of world Class standard,” he stated.
Thomas, further thanked the governor, his deputy Hon Tele Ikuru and the Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Fred Igwe for their support to ensure that the swimming championship was successful.
