NLNG Relocates HQs To PH …As Amaechi Hails Management’s Move
Rivers State Governor, Rt.Hon Chibuike Amaechi, has lauded the management of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited(NLNG) for relocating its headquarters from Lagos to Rivers State, noting that the move was a testament that the state was now conducive for business and investments.
The Governor made the remark, when the management team of the gas producing company led by its Chairman, Chief Isobonye LongJohn paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday .
Rt Hon. Amaechi reiterated that his administration is poised to sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the state as he used the occasion to woo other intending investors into the state.
Amaechi declared,” we will do everything possible that every business is secured and a peaceful business atmosphere is sustained”.
The Governor also said that the government will strive more to improve the environment and infrastructure provision including other facilities that will aid business transaction as he promised the company,” we will also be ready to support you in other possible ways we can to make your stay peaceful”.
Intimating the Governor on why the company embarked on the visit, its chairman, Chief LongJohn explained that though the move has been in the news courtesy demands that the Governor be officially informed.
He further pointed out that,” this is not the first time, we tried to move in 2006 but because of militancy we could not”.
He observed that the firm has considered it economic and expedient to move closer to its area of operations and said “in our last meeting the board confirmed the irrevocable move to Port Harcourt”.
The Managing Director, Mr Chima Ibeneche who emphasized that the relocation had become necessary due to its social and economic benefits.
“We are really happy that this time we are on our way and we will arrive soon,” he added
The NLNG managing director who commended the Governor for huge success his administration has recorded in security and infrastructure provision remarked that the current peaceful clime in the state will provide elixir for many business to thrive,” we have seen that Rivers State is ready for business and we want to be part of the progress,” he said.
He disclosed that before the end of November the company would relocate fully as frantic effort was being made to provide accommodation and official space for its staffers.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
