Rivers In Quarter Finals …Female Volleyball
Two Quarter finalists have emerge in the volleyball female category of the on-going 17th National Sports Festival tagged Garden City Games. They are Rivers and Adamawa State who both won their first two games to get to the last eight.
Rivers State defeated Plateau State in one of the early matches played yesterday by three sets to one, while the game between Rivers State and Akwa Ibom State was a one-sided affair as Rivers State humbled the girls from Uyo by three sets to nil.Adamawa equally defeated Abia and Niger States respectively by three sets to nil.
Coach of Adamawa volleyball team and former national team player,Esther Dominic is confident that her girls will not disappoint Adamawa people going by their performances in the event so far.
“I am very happy with the performance of my girls,we came here only Wednesday morning and did not settle down before our first game, yet we won convincingly and you can see our game has improved better ‘.
‘’ I tell you our ambition is to go back to Yola with the Gold, that was the promise we made to our people before we left for the seventeenth National Sports Festival,” he said.
Meanwhile Head coach of the Rivers State Volleyball Association, Opakakiriba Harry has told his opponents to beware of his teams(male and female)as he is not ready to trade the gold medals with any State.
