Mrs Amaechi Urges Support For Kindergarten Education
Wife of the Rivers State governor Dame Judith Amaechi, has urged wealthy Nigerians to support the education of the less privileged children in rural communities.
Dame Amaechi stated this during the foundation laying ceremony of ESI Model Nursery School at Isiokpo, Ikwerre local government of the state.
She said the school built in partnership with Ikwerre Community Development Board, a community cluster operated by the host community for a multinational oil firm.
The Founder of ESI said that the investment in education should not be left in the hands of government alone but that individuals must complement the effort if the nation’s quest for mass literacy program can be achievable.
Mrs. Amaechi who laid the foundation stone for the Isiokpo campus of the ESI Model Nursery School expressed optimism that the partnership between the NGO and the Ikwerre Local Government will produce children who will bring glory to the community.
In his speech, Chairman of the council, Mr. Kerian Wobodo said the Ikwerre local government authority placed much emphasis and premium on human capacity development and added that the council has resolved to provide basic amenities including computers and other basic teaching aids to the schools.
She expressed gratitude to the ESI for providing a permanent learning centre for kindergarten education at Isiokpo.
Also speaking on behalf of the community development board, Chairman of the Ikwerre COB, Barr. Boniface Emerengwa, said the COB was impressed with the kindergarten education initiated by the ESI which is impacting positively in the lives of the rural education.
He said the COB was partnering with ESI to build the nursery school as a complementary effort to assist the state government in its renewed effort to develop human capacity of the state and to provide world class infrastructure in the education sub-sector.
Mr. Emerengwa reaffirmed the determination of the Ikwerre COB to assist ESI in achieving the mass literacy programme in rural communities.
