Jonathan Tasks Christians On Exemplary Life
President Goodluck Jonathan has charged Christians to fear God and live exemplary lives.
Jonathan made the call last Saturday in Tombia, Yenagoa local government area at the burial of the mother of the Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Mrs Hansel Seibarugu.
The President, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Federal Parastatals, Deacon Braeyi Ekiye, also advised sympathisers to emulate the deceased.
According to him, Seibarugu “lived a worthy life on earth.”
Jonathan praised the late Mrs Seibarugu for her creativity, industry and commerce on earth, saying: “life is not of material wealth, but true legacy for generations yet unborn.”
He prayed God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The late Seibarugu, 75, died on June 12.
In a sermon titled: “Right Time, just before the interment”, Most Rev. Adolphus Amabebe, a retired Anglican Bishop of the Niger Delta West Diocese, enjoined the Christian faithful to endeavour to die in Christ.
Before the burial, Governor Timipre Sylva had condoled with his deputy, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, over the loss of his mother.
Sylva said that death was a necessary end for man and urged the bereaved to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a good life.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The burial was attended by members of the Bayelsa State Executive Council, traditional rulers and lawmakers from neighbouring states.
