Mrs Woherem Goes Home
The body of late Mrs Felicia Ihunda Woherem (nee Wopara) who died recently at a ripe age of 79 years has been laid to rest in her home town.
The Chief mourner and son of the late septuagenarian, Chief Dr Evans Worehere who spoke to journalists shortly after the internment described her as a lover of all Nigerians and one who left a legacy worthy of emulation.
“We thank God she lived a very graceful and fulfilled life. We miss her very dearly but we are not saying the final goodbye. Today, we are only celebrating her and we enjoin all living to learn from the standard she has left behind. My mum was an amazon. She is somebody a lot of people will choose to have as a mother. She lived a very honest life and now she is our guardian angel in this part of the world.”
Mrs Felicia Woherem died on September 5, after a short but severe heart pain. She was until her demise a devout Christian. She lived an upright life and as the saying goes, when a woman walks upright in the sight of God she will see her children and grand children” She did not only live an upright life, she also lived an exemplary life and was able to see her children and grand children.
She is survived by Chief Edward Woherem (husband), executive Director (operations) of Unity Bank Plc, Dr. Evans Ejike Woherem (son), Mr Ichenwo Darry Wopara (son), Mr Yelemaeckile Wopara (son), Ms Vero Ozumuonu Wopara (daughter), Mrs Stella Nne Ade Gbeke (daughter) and Ms Chisa Wopara (daughter).
Others include 5 step sons, 11 grand children, 6 step daughters, 3 sisters, 5 brothers, 5 sons-in law, and over 7 cousins.
Dignitaries who attended the burial include member of House of Representative, Representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency, as well as Chairman, South-South parliamentary caucus, Rt. Hon Andrew Uchendu, OON (JP); immediate past president of Ogbakor Ikwerre in Lagos, Mr Mike Anwuri; Barr. Sam Nwakohu, Mr Tony Nsitem, Alh. Mohammed Hayatudeen and others too numerous to mention.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
