Yoruba Community Laud Amaechi
The Yoruba Community in Rivers State has lauded Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi over his developmental efforts within his two years in office.
A statement signed by the President, Chief Olawale Solagbade and the Secretary General, Hon. Wole Aguniade said his monumental achievements speak volumes of good governance and enjoined him to keep the flag flying.
According to the statement, his co-operation and assistance to the organisation had left an indelible mark on the sands of time, adding that they would also maintain the cordial peaceful relationship and co-existence with the government and people of the state.
The statement further said that his style of governance has resulted to the rapid infrastructural development of the state, stressing that his doggedness in piloting the affairs of the state had turned around the city in all facets and also congratulated him on his remarkable achievements within his two years in office.
The organisation also thanked the governor for his maximum support during the recent Yoruba Week 2009, and especially for hosting the quest speaker, Otumba Gbenga Daniel, the Governor of Ogun State and his entourage, which also shows his love for non-indigenes, describing him as non-tribalistic.
It will be recalled that Governor Amaechi was during the weeklong celebration honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Yoruba Community in Rivers State.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
