Sharks Suffer Robbers attack
The tale of woes trailing Nigeria football in recent time continued at the Weekend after Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt was attacked by Armed Robbers in Abeokuta.
The incident happed in the early hours of Sunday at the rock City Hotel, Abeokuta, couple of hours after the team arrived the Ogun State capital for their Federation Cup group stage matches.
Fortunately however, no life was lost in the incident, according to the media officer of the club, Confidence Idaa.
The media officer in a telephone chat to Tidesports said that the squad was getting ready for lights out when the robbers, numbering about 15, hit their hotel lodgings.
“The incident began at about 10 p.m., “ Idaa said. “They fired several gunshots into the hotel before they started robbing players and officials.
“No lives were lost but they took lap top, cell phones and cash totalling about N1 million.” He said.
Sharks are in the same group with newly crowned league champions, Bayelsa United, relegated Akwa United and Division one side, Bussdor United.
