NYCN Affirms Coordinator’s Removal From Office
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State Chapter, has reaffirmed the removal from office of the coordinator of the body in Emohua Local Government Area, Mr Innocent Woke, accusing him of engaging in activities inimical to the good image and collective wellbeing of the body in the State.
The body, alleged in a statement signed by its State Secretary, Comrade David Apiafi, Legal Adviser, Barrister Chigozie Emem and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Gospel Okporo, that the former coordinator was removed from office as a result of gross misconduct, insubordination and misappropriation of public fund.
The NYCN equally alleged that the former coordinator also attempted to drag the body into partisan politics in Emohua Local Government Area, contrary to the enabling laws establishing the body.
“He was warned not to use NYCN to play politics and not to be engaged in activities that would create crisis in his local government,” the statement said.
The body further indicated that a petition of misappropriation of fund was written against the former coordinator by the secretary of the organisation in Emohua Local Government and other members of the executive wherein an investigation committee was allegedly constituted which indicted him after giving him fair hearing.
The Tide actually sighted a copy of the petition. The youth group also used the medium to affirm that Amb Chijioke Ihunwo remains the chairman of the body in the State, contrary to insinuations in certain quarters, insisting that the tenure of the present state executive would expire in 2023.
“Documents to that effect are in the Ministry of Youth Development for verification and we also have a court judgement to that effect,” the statement said, stressing that NYCN is above any individual and would not allow anybody to destroy the image of the body.
NYCN, therfore, urged the estwhile coordinator to stop impersonating Amb Ihunwo, as there is only one Chairman of the body in Rivers State.
