Suspected Cultist Beheaded In C’River
A young man suspected to be a cultist has been beheaded in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Ogep-Osokom when two rivalry cult groups clashed.
An eyewitness, who gave her name as Jane Obi, said the clash was between Vickings and Black Axe.
“There was gunshot everywhere in the area. So many people sustained injuries and were rushed to private health facilities.
“Though the situation has been brought under control now, residents are still living in fear as some suspected cultists are brandishing guns and other dangerous weapons in the area.
“Everybody in the area lives in fear. We call on the security agents to intervene with a view to arresting suspected cultists in the area,” she appealed.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo said she was not aware of the murder incident but admitted that several suspected cultists and kidnappers had been arrested in the state.
“The command has arrested several suspected cultists in the state. We have also in our custody alleged kidnappers and armed robbers.
“The commissioner of Police, Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz has given an order that investigations be conducted immediately with a view to prosecuting the alleged cultists, arm robbers and kidnappers,” she stated.
