Monarch Loses Building To Fire, Seeks CRSG’s Support
A 70-year-old village
head of Akugom, Assiga New Town in Yakurr Local Government Area, Chief Michael Alibi, has appealed to the Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, to come to his aid following a fire disaster that razed his entire building, recently. Speaking with newsmen at Assiga New Town, Alibi also appealed to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to provide relief materials to save his family from the current hardship occasioned by the inferno.
The monarch, who stated that the appeal had become imperative following the monumental loss suffered as a result of the incident, noted that apart from razing the entire building, the fire also destroyed property worth millions of Naira. Alibi, who could not as at press time ascertain the cause of the fire, stated that the inferno came to him and the entire household as a surprise.
He, however, thanked God that none of his family members died in the fire. When our correspondent visited the scene of the fire, burnt household properties were seen littering the compound. At the moment, Alibi and his family are being accommodated by one of his neighbours in the area.
