Rivers NCSU Boss Debunks Sack Claim
The Rivers State Chairman of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), Comrade O.T. Lilly-West, has expressed shock and surprise over claims by some suspended members of the union to the effect that he has been removed from office.
According to him, there was never a time the State Executive Council (SEC) of the union met and passed a vote of no confidence on his leadership, let alone removes him from office.
He, therefore, challenged those making this wide claim to substantiate it by furnishing the public with the venue of the meeting and the attendance list of SEC members who attended such a meeting, saying that all SEC meetings of the union always hold at the union’s secretariat on Ikwerre Road in Port Harcourt.
Lilly-West said those who are making the claims are persons he described as drowning and frustrated individuals who are looking for a straw to clutch to remain afloat and relevant, stressing that if these individuals were incapable of telling the truth in little matters, then, they were incapable of doing so in weighty matters.
The NCSU boss, who made this clarification in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday therefore, advised members of the public to discountenance the lies, falsehood and propaganda being peddled by these individuals to deceive and hoodwink the unsuspecting public, particularly some members of the union.
While reiterating that the allegations often levelled against him by these persons were a hogwash, he said such allegations only fly in the face of the truth and commonsense.
He explained that everything concerning the finances of the union in the state was before the National Secretariat, which he said had recently cleared him of any wrongdoing, having accorded due recognition and authentication to his leadership, and wondered why these persons would go out of their way to discuss a matter that was already before the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on the pages of newspapers.
Lilly-West, therefore, advised all those who are already blowing hot unnecessarily to allow EFCC to carry out its investigation in accordance with its constitutional mandate.
It would be recalled that the so-called factional State Chairman of the union, Comrade Ade Asiegbu was suspected to have led some members of the union and suspected hoodlums to vandialise the union’s secretariat in Port Harcourt on June 5, 2015 and carted away valuables worth millions of Naira which is being investigated by the Police.
