FRSC Dismisses Staff Over Alleged Drivers’ Licences Faking
The Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC) has dismissed a Road Marshal Assistant, Sunny Kpogha, for alleged misconduct relating to inssuance of fake driver’s licences.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Edo State, Mr Familoni Oluwasusi, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Benin last Saturday.
He said the dismissal of Kpogha, who was in the Benin office, was to serve as deterrent to other marshals in the commission.
He said that the dismissed staff had been handed over to the police for prosecution.
“The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC, has directed that Mr Sunny Kpogha, a Road Marshal Assistant, having been adjudged guilty and his appointment terminated be handed over to the police for prosecution.
“Inssuing of fake driver’s licence to members of the public is a punishable offence and perpetrators should desist from it.
“Faking of driver’s licences erodes the dignity of the country and reduces road taxes accrued to the government,” he said.
He called on members of the public to ensure that their biometrics were taken during the driver’s licence inssuing procedure.
In another development, the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Victor Edoror, inaugurated 24 standing committees for the House in Benin last Thursday.
Edoror said the committees would oversight activities of the state’s ministries and agencies.
“The 24 committees have a mandate to carry out their oversight functions.”
Chairman of the Committee on Information, Mr Chris Okaeben, said the inauguration was to notify state ministries and agencies to work closely with the various committees.
“The committees are now empowered by law to carry out their oversight functions”, he stressed.
