Chairmen of the thirty-two
Rural Development Authorities in Bayelsa State have been charged to make service delivery to the rural people, their primary responsibility. They have also been told to ensure that, the policies and programmes of the restoration administration are properly disseminated to the rural dwellers.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who gave the charge, while addressing the chairman at a meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, advised them to take steps in dispelling the rumours, propaganda and falsehood being peddled by mischief makers for their selfish ends.
The Governor, lauded the Chairmen over the prevailing peace in the rural communities, assuring that, efforts were being geared up to deal with issues of sea piracy and kidnapping, which have become a great source of concern to the government and the people of the State.
Dickson urged the chairmen to continue to liaise with the rural people, the security agencies, the chairmen of the big eight local government areas in the coordination and implementation the various policies and programmes of the government, especially the payment of the N5,000 stipends to the elderly and others.
“I have received reports from the Commissioner of local government Administration and the Deputy Governor, who superintends over the local government areas. I have been briefed on the issues in the local government service commission and reports have it that, you are trying your best to deliver service to the people.
“You are also aware of the massive infrastructural developments across the state and my government is going to do more to develop the state,” he said
Chairman and spokesman of the G-32 forum, Mr. Asari Timpre Kerry commended the state government for the N5,000 stipend paid to the elderly, stressing that, the policy was impacting positively on the beneficiaries, majority of whom reside in the rural areas.
