Landscaping Company Plans Training School
Prominent landscaping and beautification company, Elizabeth Alfred has disclosed plans to establish a gardening and horticulture training school in Rivers State.
The plan was made public by the General Manager of the Company, Bukky Ogunyemi during an exclusive chat with The Tide on Monday.
Ogunyemi said the plan was aimed at consolidating the success recorded so far in transforming the landscape of the state through its beautification projects.
She stated that by establishing a training school for gardening and horticulture, teeming unemployed youths in the state would be empowered to eke a living and add value to the aesthetic beauty of the state.
Ogunyemi stated that as the foremost beautification company in the state, a lot of youths have benefited from its activities, since it has provided jobs in the area of environmental upgradement, landscaping and horticulture.
Contrary to views in some quarters that the government was expending huge amount of fund on landscaping and environmental beautification, the florist said, “it is something that makes people feel relaxed and creates peace for the mind”.
The Elizabeth Alfred General Manager was of the view that greening is an important aspect of raising the quality of the environment, stressing that in the civilised world, city athletics is an important aspect of urban development.
Both landscaping and greening, she further asserted, also protects properties, artifacts and provide walkways for pedestrians to enjoy the scenery.
Ogunyemi who frowned at the attitude of the public in destroying greenery by trampling on them, noted that there is need to change such attitude to preserve the beauty of the city.
By funding the development of more parks and greenery, she observed that it can also provide a revenue base for government because of its entertainment value, further calling on members of public and companies to also improve on their surroundings.
