Legg-jack Hails Opobo’s Cultural Reserves
The Rivers State Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic
party (PDP) Hon. Dagogo Eli Legg-Jack says the prevalence of ancient monuments,
corumerical agreements, consular papers and ancient buildings in Opobo Kingdom
has distinguished the Kingdom as an historical paradise.
Speaking last weekend during the launching of the book ,
“Opobo Excerpts, An insight into An African Kingdom” by Mr. Gibson Nelson
Ogolo, Legg_Jack said the book would encourage the younger generations to
develop a positive attitude towards the historical development of the Kingdom.
He said that Mr. Gibson Ogolo as a retired Civil Servant has
brought his wealth of experience to bear on the production of the book,
stressing that the effort is worth encouraging.
The State PDP Deputy Chairman who chaired the occasion
further said the book would be useful not only to Opobians but also to others
who are tasty for knowledge about the Kingdom.
Also speaking, a justice of the Rivers State High Court,
Hon. Justice Boma G. Diepiri said that the Author has given the kingdom
something that will last for posterity.
Hon. Justice Diepiri who said that every Opobo man should
associate with the work, also said that the development would help to enhance
reading culture in the kingdom.
While reviewing the book, Dr. Francis Minimah of the
University of Port Harcourt, described the book as an excellent reference
point.
