Omuma LGA Boss Inaugurate 11 man Scholarship Board
The executive chairman of Omuma local government council of Rivers state, RT Hon Promise Reginald has inaugurated an eleven man scholarship education board committee headed by Dr Bigman Nwala as the chairman.
Hon Promise while inaugurating the committee at a brief ceremony held at the chairman’s chamber at Eberi last Wednesday charged them to be fair and apolitical in the discharge of their duties.
He stated that his administration is committed to ensure that the local government area improve the education standard of the people.
He urged them to ensure that every student of the local origin is given equal opportunity to all both the children of the poor and the rich, adding that the desire of his administration is to see that the people of Omuma are not educationally backwards.
According to him, the scholarship scheme is open to all students of Omuma origin who has gained admission into any institutions of higher learning, stressing that the essence is to ensure that his administration leave a legacy and also encourage the youths who will take after them to be educated.
The chairman told the committee that from now till the December this year, the council will be sending three Omuma students to United kingdom for over sea scholarship and announced that the scholarship scheme will take off immediately with ten beneficiaries.
He congratulated them on their appointments and urged them to be transparent and be fair in all their dealings, stressing that they were chosen based on their track records and as well their efforts to advance education in the area.

Earlier in his acceptance speech, the chairman of the committee, Dr Bigman Nwala thanked the executive chairman for the confidence reposed on them and assured him that they will work towards realising the objectives of the committee..

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
