Institute Advocates Peace, Unity
The President, Institute of Peace, Conflict Resolution, and Entrepreneurial Research, Prof. Eseimokumoh Alex Okubo, has urged Nigerians to live in peace, love and harmony with one another regardless of tribe and religion.
Speaking during the conferment ceremony of an Award of Excellence and Honaris Causa Doctor of Humanities on HRH Esau Jacob Karibo, the Okaa-Ama Okloile Town in Andoni Local Government Area in Port Harcourt over the weekend, he said “peace is priceless”.
He encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, despite the difficulties and economic hardhip in the country, but charged them to live in peace with one another.
Okubo further charged Nigerians to be prayerful and to continuosly pray for the nation, adding that “Jesus Christ came to give the world peace”.
He sued for peace among leaders, while stressing that meaningful development cannot take place in an atmosphere of chaos and uproar.
According to him, the institute wll continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders towards ensuring the sustenance of peace in the state and country at large.
Okubo charged the newly conferred ambassadors of peace to put in their best efforts and work towards ensuring that the purpose for which they are called to served is accomplished .
“Our yardstick in measuring recipient is very sacred and divine. From what we have seen and gathered from HRH. Jacob Esau Karibo’s past, we deemed him fit to be the recipient of this award. Indeed he deserves it. we have charged him wit the mandate of promoting peace and unity, not just in Rivers State, but across the nation”, he stated.
Also speaking, HRH. Esau Jacob Karibo promised to work towards fulfilling this mandate given to him and his people, while advocating for peace and unity among the people of Andoni.
“I know with this degree given to me I will make sure that my L.G.A is peaceful, and also ensure that peace reigns in my domain even in Rivers State”, he said.
The overseer of Home of God Vineyard Mission, Archbishop James Friday Egbe, thanked the institute for finding him worthy to bear such a position and called on them to continue in their good works.
