NDDC Signs Advisory Governance Contract With KPMG
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has signed a contract to re-engage KPMG, for the provision of advisory governance services for the development of the Niger Delta.
Speaking while welcoming the KPMG management team to the signing of the contract, Wednesday, at the NDDC Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku, stated that partners with KPMG would help to elevate the commission’s processes to international standard.
According to him, over the years, people described the NDDC Board as a total failure, adding that the new board took that as a challenge to change that narrative by engaging KPMG to provide professional advisory services for the commission.
“Over the years, NDDC had been called all sorts of names, portraying it as an unserious organisation. “We took that up as a challenge, saying that NDDC is not a complete failure as was insinuated, urging us to think differently and try to ensure we do things based on best international standard practice.
“This was why we engaged KPMG to come and provide advisory governance of services.
“It was not even easy to engage KPMG because the story of engagement of KPMG actually took us through a long process.
“I really want to thank the Executive Director of Project, NDDC, Mr Charles Ogunmola, for taking pains for us to get to this level of the agreement.
“We believe that this partnership with KPMG is going to launch NDDC into the international level of acceptance.
“Just as I said, we want to do things differently to shore up our game. We want to create standard. We want to strengthen the institution, so that whatever we live behind would be difficult for any one to upturn”, Ogbuku stated.
Also speaking, the Lead Partner and Head, Governance Processes of KPMG, Mr Tolu Odukale, lauded the partnership with NDDC for the development of Niger Delta region.
Noting that the relationship would boost the confidence of the investor and the development partners, he promised that KPMG would bring all its skills and experience to bear in order to boost the NDDC’s international processes and ensure transparency.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, NDDC, Major Charles Airhiarbere, said engaging the services of KPMG would enhance good service delivery, which will result in stakeholders’ satisfaction.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
