NGO Confers Life Patron Honour On LG Boss
The Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon. Michael John Williams, has been conferred with “Life Patron of the Rivers Equity Group”by a nongovernmental organisation (NGO) in the State.
Announcing his nomination during a one-day medical outreach in Bakana, tagged, ‘Simplify Your Health Status & Public Lecture On Electoral Act,’ the NGO noted that his emergence as Life Patron was based on his massive support to the group, and his investment in the health sector.
Coordinator of the Rivers Equity Group, Elder Clapton Ogolo, while thanking the council chairman for his support for the medical outreach, further disclosed that the outreach was initiated by the Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Fubara, due to his desire to have a healthy society, where helpless citisens with various health challenges can be assisted.
“I want to thank our chairman, who has supported us because he is “SIMplified”. He has done everything possible and made sure that we are here to attend to you, because he knows that health is wealth.
“We’re here to reach the unreached, to assist those who do not have the financial muscle and capacity to go to the clinics to examine their eyes.
“To go to the optician alone would have been very difficult for a lot of you, but thank God that the chairman has supported us to come to you at your doorstep.
“Also, one of our patrons, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, mandated us to come to Degema, to go and see his people and bring them his message of hope, adding that his administration, when it comes on board, has great plans for them,” Ogolo said.
Elder Ogolo, who stated that the people of Degema needed to have good sights, in order to vote appropriately during the 2023 general elections, added that Degema is the father of the PDP in Rivers State, having started in Harry’s Town with the late Chief Marshal Harry and has remained a stronghold of the party since 1999.
The council chairman commended Sir Siminialayi Fubara for having the people of Degema at heart, declaring that Bakana and Degema LGAs were solidly behind him.
He stated that the PDP Governorship Candidate was coming to consolidate on the legacies of Governor Nyesom Wike, noting that the people of Degema had resolved to give Sim Fubara 100 percent support to actualize the ambition.
He enjoined beneficiaries of the outreach to make good use of the opportunity by being orderly and paying keen attention to prescriptions and instructions from the medical team.
The medical outreach featured free eye check, free glasses, drugs, general medical checkups, counseling, amongst others.
