The Eze Ekpeye Logbo III of Ekpeyeland in Rivers State, Eze Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, has commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, for their untiring efforts to annihilate Gift David Okpara a.k.a 2Baba, the wanted killer of the former Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim.
Eze Anugwo gave the commendation in his palace at Ula-Upata Community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, recently.
“I must sincerely commend the Police Force, especially the Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police Rivers State Command, for their untiring efforts to kill 2Baba.
“2Baba was not only a cultist, but a kidnapper, rapist and terrorist in Ekpeyeland, before his desperation to kill the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer last year.
“I am impressed to say that Ekpeye people are happy, and therefore thank the police for the feat.
“I urge the Police to extend the fight to the nooks and crannies of Ekpeyeland to rid the area of all cultists,” he said.
He noted that Ekpeye Kingdom was known to be peaceful, safe and habitable, which attracts other tribes to come in for business and settlement.
The monarch re-emphasised his commitment to bring peace, development and safety to Ekpeye Kingdom and warned the youths in the area to desist from cultism or face untimely death.
Recall that 2Baba, a native of Odhiemudhie community in Akoh Clan in Ekpeye Kingdom, alongside his lieutenants, reportedly killed and dismembered the former Ahoada DPO, SP Bako Agbashim, on September 8, last year.
This heinous crime prompted the Rivers State Government to place N100million bounty on him to be smoked out. But even as frantic efforts to arrest 2Baba were intensified, the monster and his gang were killing more people in the area.
Luck, however, ran out of him last week, when the cult leader engaged the police trailing him in a fierce gun battle and he was fatally wounded and reportedly killed.
It would be recalled that the dead body of 2Baba was displayed last Friday by the police.
