FG Assists Victims Of Fire, Communal Clashes In Akwa Ibom

About 1,767 households seriously affected by fire disaster and communal crises in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, have received federal government’s attention.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Wednesday, distributed building materials and food items worth millions of naira to the beneficiaries to cushion the hardship occasioned by their predicament.
The Director-General of NEMA, Mr Ahmed Mustapha Habib, who flagged off the distribution in Mbo L.G.A, said federal government approved the release of the relief materials to the communities as part of efforts to assist and always care for her citizens.
The NEMA boss, who was represented by the zonal coordinator, NEMA, south – south, Mr. Godwin Tepikor, said 1,183 households in Ewang Community all in Mbo LGA were beneficiaries of the federal government gesture.
He explained that the relief materials were distributed to households who were affected by Ibaka fishing fire disaster, which occurred on May 26, 2021, and those affected by Ewang communal crisis on February 24, 2021.While he advised the communities to always exhibit the early christian character to each other to avoid violence and communal crisis among them. He also sued for peace to avert such experience again, stressing that money spent on relief materials would have been used for the development of the communities
In his remark, Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, commended the federal government for the hand of fellowship given to the beneficiaries and believed they would make used of the relief material judiciously .
The deputy who was represented by the permanent secretary in his office, Mr Nkopuruk Ekaiko, appealed to communities in the state to avoid communal conflicts, adding that conflicts cannot produce anything good rather deny them of development in their communities.
