Council Boss Identifies Roles Of Christianity In Societal Dev
The Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon Samuel Nwanosike, has commended the role Christianity plays in the development of society especially the clerics who labour in God’s vineyard in preaching peace, love and unity for stabilising societal development.
The council boss, who was represented by his wife, Mrs. Silver Nwanosike at the launch of the book on the life and evangelistic ministry of Pastor/Prophetess Beatrice N. Wali held in Isiokpo recently, commended the evangelistic ministry in Ikwerre land, while describing her as “a gift from God to our generation.”
The council boss underscored Prophetess Wali’s 45 years sojourn as a preacher, pastor and her work in evangelising the word of God in Ikwerre, adding that within the 45 years of her ministry, she had set up eight churches, as well as brought thousands to the knowledge of Christ.
“In 1989, her prophesy reportedly prepared the way for the coming into reality of the first Rivers Governor of Ikwerre extraction.”
The KELGA chairman further stated that Prophetess Wali contributed to the development of the society and individuals through her ministry, adding that “it is God that has brought you at this point in time and in this generation”.
Also speaking, the book reviewer, Prof Edward Adiele contended that the contribution of these African missionaries had sadly been neglected by church historians.
According to him “formerly, Europeans were coming here to evangelise Africans, make converts and plant churches.
“But today, we have what we call a ‘Reversed Mission’. ‘Reversed’ in the sense that Africans are now going to Europe and America to make converts, to plant churches. Similarly, church historians have recognised the need to also have a re-appraisal of church history whereby you have to articulate what African pastors are doing to evangelise their fellow Africans,”
Also speaking, Paramount Ruler of Omagwa, Eze Achinike Amadi and the chairman of the occasion, Hon Franklyn Aribodo commended Prophetess Wali for her steadfastness in priestly ministry and described her as someone who is worthy of praise, adding that “she is worth more than the encomiums being poured on her today.”
