Police Arrest Two Cultists, Recover Weapons In A’Ibom
The Police Command in Akwa Ibom State says it has arrested two suspected cultists and recovered dangerous weapons from them in Iyah Street in Uyo, the State capital.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo, said, “The Police Command in Akwa Ibom has announced the successful arrest of two suspected cult members and the recovery of dangerous weapons and items linked to organised criminal activities.”
She said the operatives of the Command had arrested the suspects based on a tip-off received around 01:00 hrs on Tuesday.
John stated that a subsequent search conducted upon their arrest yielded recovery of one jack knife, one walkie-talkie radio, Gunpowder, and one “bullet-proof” charm (fetish substance).
Other items recovered were two fez caps bearing the insignia of the Black Axe Confraternity (cult group), two machetes and a police lanyard.
The spokesperson said the suspects were currently undergoing investigation to determine the full scope of their activities and potential links to other crimes.
She assured the public of Police commitment to rooting out cultism and other forms of violent crimes in the state.
She urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid law enforcement efforts.
