Groups Move To Promote Peace, Dev In Ogoniland
A Non-Governmental Organisation, Ogoni Humanitarian and Community Development Foundation, (OHCDF) in Rivers State says, it is building synergy with the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, (MOSOP) and other social organisations in the area to promote peace and development among communities in Ogoniland.
Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of MOSOP last Thursday in Port Harcourt, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of OHCDF, Mr Nwile Josiah, says partnering with MOSOP is to see moreways the organisation can reach out to a larger number of Ogoni people in order to add value to their life through humanitarian services.
He opined that OHCDF will build stronger ties of partnership with MOSOP to impact and touch more lives in the area.
“We are happy to partner with MOSOP, because through MOSOP, we can also reach out to a larger number of Ogoni people,” he stated
He hinted that his organisation had organised a free medical outreach programme and also given out scholarships to students in higher institutions, adding that partnering with MOSOP was intended to extend their humanitarian services to every community in the area.
He thanked the leadership of MOSOP for its good work saying: “It is our joy to partner with MOSOP, because through MOSOP we are going to impact and touch more lives in the area through our services”.
He disclosed that the foundation has links all over the Asian world and it is not a political movement, explaining that it is only concerned with assisting common people in dire need of help.
The foundation presented a gift of roll up banner of Ken Saro Wiwa and the letter of partnership to the President of MOSOP, Chief Prince Biira.
Also speaking, The Coordinator of OHCDF in Asia, Comrade Ifeanyi Henry Madume, stated that OHCDF started far back 2015 in Malaysia (Asia) and was created to help the less privileged in that country.
He disclosed that they were also reaching out to citizens that were not of Asian extraction by visiting those in prison custody.
Earlier, the President of MOSOP, Chief Prince Biira, commended the chief executive of OHCDF for showing interest and adding value to human dignity.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
