Cultists Invade Community, Kill Two

Gun-wielding cultists have invaded the Kabangha Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, shooting two persons.
It was gathered that the incident, which happened on Sunday night threw the area into panic.
A source said one of the victims identified as Nwinee was shot in his bed and died on the spot while an elderly man, Basi Duuduu, was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The source, who spoke in confidence, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) visited the area at night and took the injured victim to the hospital.
He recalled that on March 28, some cult boys also invaded the community and killed one Emeka Erasmus, whose hands were cut off before he was shot in the eyes.
A brother to the deceased, Kingston Nwinee, said cultists had been after his brother since last year, saying he reported their activities to the police.
“When they started coming after him, we reported the matter to the police, but nothing was done.
“We don’t know who told them that my brother reported their activities to the police.
“ At about 9pm on Sunday, they stormed his house and met him lying in his bed because he was ill.
“They shot him and he died on the spot. I have gone to the police to make an entry. I am asking the police to fish out those who killed my brother,” Kingston said.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, could not be reached for his comments.
