Ex-LG Boss Hails Wike Over Recognition Of Rumueme Stool

Former Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State and Chairman of Rivers State Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agency, Prince Timothy Nsirim, has commended Governor Nyesom Wike for the recognition and elevation of the ancient stool of Rumueme Kingdom to first class traditional stool and the occupant of the stool, Nyenwe-Ali Omunakwe Nsirim as a first class traditional ruler, saying, the recognition and elevation of the stool are long overdue.
Nsirim, who made the commendation in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, said he is extremely happy over the development as the recognition of the Apiti of Rumueme as a first class traditional ruler is timely and well-deserved, adding that the Governor’s gesture portends peace, more progress and development for the ancient Kingdom.
While thanking Governor Wike for the gesture, the former local government chairman said he and the entire Nsirim family would remain grateful to the Governor for remembering the area at this time, adding that by recognising and elevating the traditional stool of the ancient Kingdom, he (the governor) has demonstrated his love for the people of the area, as it has given them a sense of belonging.
Nsirim therefore, appealed to the people to eschew all forms of bitterness and bickering, and use the singular gesture as an avenue to promote and give peace a chance, describing peace as a valuable and priceless commodity that fosters progress and development in any society.
He further noted that unnecessary flexing of muscles and war are an ill-wind that blows no society any good, and enjoined the people of Rumueme Kingdom to borrow a cue from Syria, which he said has been decimated and destroyed by senseless war and bloodletting.
Nsirim assured that he would continue to support and work with Governor Wike all the days of his life, and applauded him for the giant development strides of his administration.
He also congratulated the Apiti of Rumueme Kingdom, Omunakwe Nsirim on his well-deserved recognition and elevation, and expressed optimism that the gesture would spur the monarch to contribute more to the development of the Kingdom and the traditional institution in the State.
