Farmers Benefit From Foundation’s Entrepreneurship Training
Skills Outside School Foundation in collaboration with Aspire Corporation Trust Fund and Bank of Agriculture, has trained 100 local farmers in Etche Local Government Area of the State.
The training was on cassava production and its economic benefits in Nigeria. The participants were also taught how to process the crop.
The eight days agro-entrepreneurial programme was held at the weekend, at Assemblies of God Church, Okomoko in Etche LGA,
Speaking at the occasion, the HeadStart programme officer, Rose Daniel, said the programme was aimed towards empowering and enlarging the capacity of rural farmers.
According to her, the programme was to teach the local farmers to increase their farm produce.
“The foundation was basically for human capacity development. This is our flagship programme, tagged: “Cassava and Plantain Farmers empowering them build their capacity” Daniel said.
She explained that once any farmer knew how to go about its farm produce, the possibility of the farmer to make money becomes easy.
One of the participants of the programme, Chidiebere Opia, said the programme was an eye opener to rural farmers, saying that he has gotten enough knowledge to handle his crops.
“I must tell you that the facilitator of the programme was very good. I rate him very high, he teaches to the understanding of most of us (rural famers).
Opia further recommended the organizers for the initiative to hold such meaningful programme for local farmers.
Joy Ogbonda, a female participant, said the programme actually gave another perceptive to handle her crops. She said before now she did not know how to make money through farming.
She also commended the foundation for giving them the opportunity to acquire good knowledge of farming.

Motor Spare Parts, Industrial Generators Dealers’ Union Swears Gets New Chairman in Port Harcourt
The Owhonda Dickson Motor Spare Parts and Industrial Generators Dealers’ Union operating in Ikoku Port Harcourt, Rivers state has sworn in Mr. Cyril Igbokwe, popularly known as Onyeoma Cy, as its new Chairman.
The brief swearing _in ceremony was held at the union office in Port Harcourt, last Wednesday
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Igbokwe expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence his members had shown in him, despite his perceived educational background compared to others. , “I feel very happy to be the chairman of this great union in this great market. I’m proud of my executives for demonstrating commitment and cooperation.” Notably, the executives raised over ?1 million for the inauguration ceremony within an hour.
The new Chairman promised to tackle key challenges facing the union, including security and indiscipline. He vowed to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, who he praised for excellent performance, and aimed to possibly do better.
Mr. Igbokwe emphasized maintaining a robust relationship with the host community and conducting his affairs within the ambit of the law.
In his remarks,the Electoral Committee Chairman’, Igwe Amobichukwu Eze Okorie, assured that the elections were conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. Despite facing challenges such as non-compliance with guidelines and unfounded propaganda campaigns, no formal protest letters had been received.
Also speaking, the Women’s Leader, Lolo Nkechinyere Okolie, expressed faith in the new Chairman, citing his integrity and experience. She highlighted her role in ensuring women’s voices are counted in the union and vouched for the credibility of the election, noting that Mr. Igbokwe was the popular choice among members.

MUAARIV Organized Free Medical Outreach In Rivers …Over 500 People Beneficiaries

The Madonna University Alumni Association Rivers State Chapter (MUAARIV) in collaboration with the family of late Engr Peter Eppie recently organised a successful one day free medical outreach in Egbere-eta Okori Alesa – Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Over 500 residents benefited from the initiative which aimed providing medical care to those who can not afford.
Speaking with newsmen the Chairman of Madonna University Alumni Association Rivers State Chapter Dr Iheanyichukwu Wopara said that MUAARIV are passionate about the well-being of the people of Rivers State and beyond.
He explained that the free medical outreach is aimed at providing medical care to those who can not afford it adding that due to high cost of Healthcare and lack of primary and secondary facilities in their areas.
“Today we are happy for the turnout of the people of Alesa.
” As you can see the people are overwhelmed because of the free medical care.
” Our aim as an association is to bring free medical care close to the people, presently things are very costly, so is one way our association is using to help the society.
” I want to thanked the family of late Engr Peter Eppie for collaboration with MUAARIV to make outreach a success.
” As you can see there is free medication, free eye check, eye glasses given out free of charge ” Dr Iheanyichukwu stated.
Meanwhile Chief Kenwi Oai 64 years, one of the beneficiary expressed joy over the free medical care also thanking MUAARIV for bringing the free medical care to his community.
” Today I am very happy I have benefited from the free medical outreach, this is what we want in our society.
” I want to used this medium to call on other associations to borrow a leave from MUAARIV to do the same in the society” Chief Kwani said.
Also speaking Salome Oluka Efor 56 years commended MUAARIV for their good work adding that she has been given free medication without payment.
” My son I am very happy for the medication today.
” I want to thanked MUAARIV for finding Eleme worthy for the free medical outreach today”.
She called on others association to follow MUAARIV example and provide similar services to the community.
