Delta: FRSC Arrests 21,914 Traffic Offenders In 11 Months

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State Command, has arrested 21,914 road traffic offenders from January to date for various offences.
The state Sector Commander, Mr Ocheja Ameh, made this known yesterday in Asaba at the launching of the 2019 Ember Months Special Patrol Operations.
“This is against the 8,570 offenders and 12,251 offences recorded in 2018.
“This has also led to a reduction in fatalities from 79 in 2018 to 62 in 2019 for the same period,” Ameh said.
According to him, the command also carried out robust public enlightenment campaigns in motor parks, churches, mosques and market places.
The sector commander said that the ember months special operations is the FRSC traditional way of kick-starting the corps’ ‘Operation Zero’ patrol.
“This operation is targeted at demystifying the myth that all journey by road during the ember months must be characterised by road crashes.
“The operation justified the purpose for which it was introduced which made the FRSC managment to adopt it as an annual exercise,” Ameh said.
In his remark, the FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone RS5 Headquarters, Benin-City, Mr Kehinde Adeleye called for caution among all road users during the ember months period.
He said the FRSC zonal command will work tirelessly in collaboration with other agencies to ensure safety on the roads.
