Tetfund Unveils N336m Academic Publishing Centre In UNICAL
Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Tetfund, has commissioned a muti- million academic publishing centre at the University of Calabar to boost educational development in the country.
Speaking while commissioning the beautiful edifice, Executive Secretary, Tetfund, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, commended contractors who handled the project and asked other contractors handling Tetfund projects in other institutions of higher learning to emulate the gesture so that they can get more contracts from Tetfund.
The Executive Secretary warned that henceforth contractors who haphazardly execute contracts awarded to them by Tetfund would be blacklisted as the fund would be forced to deny erring contractors opportunity of executing any Tetfund’s contract and threatened to deal decisively with them.
“Those that do good job, their reward is more work
“Anybody who knows me will know that when I go out to inspect or commission projects of Tetfund, if you watch my mood, if a facility is not very good, I refuse to smile,” Prof. Suleiman stated.
“My staff know me for that. And if it is very good I express it”.
The Executive secretary while expressing satisfaction over the quality of job executed by the contractors of the project said, “I was really impressed with what I saw inside there with regard to the finishing from the floor to the ceiling, furniture and electronic component, which complement the furniture, you could see this across the world. All were good.”
He warned that the era where contracts awarded to contractors were executed in a shoddy manner and contractors visit to Tetfund office to seek for other contracts was over. He frowned at the dearth of publishing enterprises across the nation’s tertiary institutions saying that what we see on daily basis in the nation’s tertiary institution as a publishing house was below the standards of book publication.
